Today’s three minute chat is with Jennifer Yilmaztwenty-three, an industry professional with twenty-three years of experience. She started out underwriting and is now leading a team of mortgage agents and brokers at dusk. Jennifer is passionate about the mortgage industry, as there’s always something new around the corner which keeps it unpredictable and fun. She enjoys helping families by guiding them through the right mortgage product and helping agents grow their business.

For our audience. So why should they join the loan desk? Why become a mortgage agent for Loan Desk?

Because Loan Desk is doing what other brokerages are not doing. Other brokerages are promising making promises, but they’re not keeping it. And we intend to be the maverick and everything else everyone else is promising to do. But aren’t you? We’re going to give the agents a full team behind them to support them in every aspect of their job. We’re going to offer them some very in-depth training, both from the Loan Desk side and from our network partnership with CLC.

From their side, we’re going to offer them technological advancements that they’re not going to get anywhere else. Continuous improvement on that front. So it’s very exciting place to be right now.

What about for the people that are not too sure if they want to become a mortgage agent? Why would you recommend for someone to become a mortgage agent?

It offers an opportunity for continuous learning and growth. There’s new scenarios every day. It’s never dull. It’s always very exciting and changing. It’s an opportunity to help people, and help people with the biggest financial decision of their lives. So that can be very rewarding and very fulfilling. You can also help people that are in trouble financially, which is, you know, if you can actually do that, that’s a great thing.

And you’re in control of your career as a mortgage agent. So you know, you get into you get out of it. What you put into it, you can advance as far as you want to go. You can control your earnings, effectively, manage a good work life balance because you’re in control.

What are the three keys to preparing for a mortgage?

You should have some lender experience and lender knowledge or understanding the basic lender guidelines. And then, when it comes down to a specific mortgage application, the most effective way to process that is to get a complete application upfront so that you’re not going back and forth with client. Make sure that you understand the client’s needs so that you can play some of the best fit and then, you know, get your appropriate documentation in as early as possible just to help smooth the process.

So the more docs you have, the more information you have upfront. Whether that be in the form of an application or documents just means that you can quickly determine where that mortgage is going to best fit, place it with that lender without any issues and close it.
